So just to update from the last post, the interview in GA has now fallen apart, as they found a local candidate. I understand the cost savings in not relocating someone, but damn. I really was a good fit for this one. Plus the junior recruiter on the second opportunity turned out to be either misinformed, or an idiot. I can't decide which......turns out the company isn't actually relocating, which means I'm not overly interested. I mean it's bad enough living here in SW FL, but Ohio is just freakin' out of bounds.
Had a discussion with the boss last week, so maybe they are really planning on using me the way we discussed a year ago. Not sure, nothing has really happened yet, but we'll see.
Not a lot else going on. Haven't really done shit on the Jeep in several weeks. What I have been doing is picking up parts like there is no tomorrow. So far, used seat belts, power brake set up out of a 90's vintage wrangler, ordered headlight retainer ring, clutch linkage, battery tray and 4 tires. I'm a freaking wild man!
GC #1 started 1st grade today. Congratulations to her, she is very excited. It's sort of weird watching her grow up though. It really seems like it was last week she was an infant. Since I'm from the great state of Louisiana, it seems natural to me to want to move back. My honey pointed out to me that GC#2 probably can't remember living there at all. Seems weird to me, but it's absolutely true.

New interview
Well, out of the blue this last couple of weeks, I've had a couple of calls from recruiters that had jobs that interested me. One was a lady I've helped in the past on some other searches, so I guess it's true what they say. Always help a recruiter, because you never know when they will be able to return the favor. Got a phone interview Monday, so we'll see how that goes. I've spent most of the day researching the company, plus reviewing various articles on phone interviews and interview preparation and I feel reasonably good about where I'm at.
The other one worries me a little, and I can't decide if I'm just being paranoid or what. I just don't like that fact that the recruiter can't give me the name of the company, and also can't tell me when the interview process might be starting. Hopefully, if there is no real job, they are just harvesting resumes, and not trying to pull off some sort of identity theft or something equally bad.
Should something come of either of these, we are seriously considering taking them. One would land us in GA, clearly back in the south plus about 4 hours closer to both our parents and family. The other would move from it's current location to either Florida or Texas, either is a good place for us to be.
Other than that, it's been very busy. My sister and her family were in town for a week. We didn't do much, or at least we didn't plan every moment. I think it actually worked out best, we all were able to relax and didn't feel like we had something scheduled out for every moment. We hit the pool, drank a lot of beer, watched movies and let the kids run wild. The Golden children enjoyed their cousin a lot, and she was pretty well behaved, which isn't always the case with her.
Other than that, not much work at all on the Jeep. Bought some used parts, none of which have arrived yet. Hopefully they will arrive this coming week. One is seatbelts, which I clearly have to have in order to put the Jeep on the road. The other is a power brake upgrade, which I can't even use yet since I don't have disk brakes. But, the price was right for the power brake parts, so I bought them. If I could find some time, and another headlight retainer ring, I could wrap up the wiring for the front lights and be done with that for now.
I plan to update again in the next day or 2 with phone interview results, so Later!
