I have a hard time believing it's almost 2009. I guess at some point I'll update a sort of look-back at the year, what happened and what I would have liked to have happened.
This is mostly for posterity, as I'm the only person reading my own thoughts, but some times it helps clarify things for me, so I guess it's good.
Happy to be back from the in-laws over Christmas. I can honestly say "never again, if I can help it". While it was a nice time and I enjoy the company of the in-laws, it was such a PITA to pack up all of our stuff that I never want to deal with that again. Or at least not until the GCs are older and getting smaller, less annoying presents.
More to come

Lot of stuff
going on for 3 days before Christmas. So I guess, let's get going.....
Honey and the GCs are up at her parents house for Christmas, with me to tag along in a few days. Got call from her yesterday that the GCs are sick again. I don't know what the F$!# is going on, but it seems those poor girls get sick at the drop of a hat, and drop the hat themselves sometimes. I'm beginning to think it's environmental, but if that's true Honey and I should be sick more.
Worked on the Jeep yesterday for a while. Got the brake light switch changed out and removed one of the studs holding the exhaust downpipe on. The other one broke off, so it's off to Sears to get an easy-out to try and remove it. If not, I guess I'll have to drill it out and use a bolt through where the threads were. We'll see how it works. Got some under the hood wiring done also, but not finished. Need to pick up at least one new side marker light and drill the hood for the turn signal/front marker lights so the Jeep can be street legal. Also drove up to FM to pick up parts from a guy up there. Got a new wiper motor, rear view and seat slider for $30, which seems like a good deal to me. Tonight, if I can keep from getting sick, I want to try and finish up the under hood light wiring (turn signals, headlights, marker lights etc....)
On a side note, how the heck is it Christmas already? This year has flown by and I don't know where it went. Looking back, I still wonder if I made the correct decision in staying vs. moving back to Lft. Even if the co. was being sold, I could have worked for a while, then jumped to the distribution company that I interviewed with and potentially never missed a paycheck. Of course this is all 20/20 hindsight and I (we) made the decision based on the best information we had.
Financially, I guess we are going to join the rest of the country in trying to refinance. I'd love to save $200/month if I can. Also our van is paid for in January, so that payment is gone as well. I'm looking forward to trying to save a little money and be prepared if something bad happens.
I'm probably okay, as I stayed in this position for a reason, but it never hurts to be prepared and I want to have options if I need them. All of my bonus money is going into the savings account to be set aside and that leaves me enough to live on for a couple of months.

seriously?
Really, .25 to 0% on the fed rate? That's just insane. I have no idea what's going to happen going forward, but at some point, we are going to just get molested on some of these things.

Crap Update
(With apologies to Dennis Miller!)
I don't want to get off on a rant but.....that's always been one of my favorite intros, and I just wanted to use it. Actually, today, I'm not all that pissed off and I feel good about it. I'll try to keep it short, mostly because there's a lot going on, most of which isn't all that interesting and I need to distill it down.
Finally have gotten a fair amount of work done on the Jeep. Pumped back in all the fluids that I drained out. Of course, the front axle promptly began leaking, so I drained it and applied some more gasket maker to the cover to seal it hopefully. I'm giving it a coupld of days for the silicone to set up, then I'll refill with gear oil and we'll see what happens. The taillights are all hooked up, although the running of the wiring may leave something to be desired. We'll see about that, but for now it's done. Got quite a bit of work done on the dashboard. I can't decide whether to leave the rust spots and just install the dumb thing, or to take it out, really put some effort into cleaning it up and then reinstall. Since my new plan for this jeep is to get it running and then sell it, I think I'll lean towards the faster of the 2 which is to install!
At work it's bonus time and I'm in for one. It's an increase over previous years, which is nice. It's what I thought I would get and not what I wanted. That's the way it goes some days though. At least I'm getting one, so I can't whine too much.
Not sure how many of you out there are done with their Christmas shopping, but I'm not. Hopefully tonight.
Got to run, maybe more fun stuff later.

New Rule
All markets will now only stay open for 5 minutes. That way, all the volatility won't be happening in the last 5 minutes of the market........
Ok, that's a dumb idea, but I really can't get over the jumps in the market.
Now, on to bigger and dumber topics. For example, what is the big deal about social networking.....I'm referring specifically to twitter, facebook, etc. Maybe it's just cuz I'm a little older or whatever, but I don't feel the need to bore my friends and family with an update every 5 seconds, or feel the need to share my embaressing photos with the world. My .02 only, so take it for what it's worth. Not that blogging doesn't expose what's going on in my life to the world, but it doesn' update every 20 minutes either and there are no photos excepts for a few bikini babes I felt obligated to include just because I felt like it.
I need people at work to f-ing listen to me and quit trying to do things just because that's the way that it's been done at our new employer. If their process sucks, why are we changing to it?

December already!!??
This can't be right.....wasn't it just August a couple of weeks ago? Or has time really been going that fast? Time flies when you're having fun I guess. I would have thought I would have had more fun, but maybe not.
Lot of junk going on since last post, so I'll hit the high and low points and move on.
LSU - Football sucks. Basketball looks ok, but too early in the season to really tell.
Vacation - Didn't go to LFT. Really pretty f-ing annoyed about it, but I guess you have to do what's best for the family, so I (we) took one for the team.
Jeep - since I spent my vaca here in sunny SW FL, I got some work done on the Jeep. The tires are all inflated. The wiring at the rear of the Jeep is pretty much done. I went to put oil in the jeep and found out that the pump I bought lied when it says "works on quart sizes"......It doesn't.
Work - tons to do and not much time to get it done. We'll see what happens and I suspect that will be covered in other upcoming posts.
Job search - Bombed out of the fab shop search, they found someone local. Seriously considering the idea of pursuing some of the Houston jobs, but I'm not sure I want to live there. We'll see......
Family - no one is sicker than normal. My honey is "that time of the month", which is never good. The GCs are reasonably healthy, although GC#1 is the reason we couldn't go on vacation and still isn't completely well.
I'm still astounded at the gyrations in the market. I'm seriously considering not reading some of the more negative blogs I usually read just so I can feel better. Seriously, this economy scares the crap out of me and I don't see it coming back for at least a year.
