So this tool rental program is not really working for me. Snuck out into the garage last night to try and get the spindle off. Discovered that I had the front wheel drive (FWD) spindle kit and not the four wheel drive kit. Went to Advanced auto to return the puller and see if they hada 4wd item. Since they didn't, I went across the street to Auto zone. They did have one, but the poor guy behind the counter was clueless, and didn't know what went with it. I gave up and went home.
Posted on Jeepforum.com today to ask what tool I needed and had the answer in about 10 minutes. I love that site, you can post a possibly silly question and get a real answer with no, or a minimal amount of fun poked at you. So, off to Auto zone again tonight on the way home to rent the correct 4wd spindle puller and the associated slide hammer!
Bad news on the northern front though. Got a call from my guy and he told me the discussions are on hold pending how the company's interview with another guy goes next week. C'est la vie I guess, but it still sucks.
